Driver’s Education Course

(Joshua’s Law Course)

• 36-Hour (Classroom and Behind the Wheel)
• Cost:  $450 per student. Scholarship available!

Joshua’s Law Driver’s Education Program
Southern Crescent Technical College offers a Georgia DDS-approved Driver’s Education program that satisfies Joshua’s Law requirements for teenagers seeking a Class D license. This program combines 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving to ensure students learn essential defensive driving techniques and safe driving practices.

Program Benefits

• Satisfies Joshua’s Law training requirements for 15- and 16-year-old drivers.
• Teaches safe driving techniques, including how to handle stressful driving situations.
• Qualifies participants for auto insurance discounts (approx. 10%, restrictions apply).
• Includes a DDS-approved Defensive Driving Course.

Program Details

• Class Format:

  • 36 Hours Total: 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training.
  • Behind-the-wheel sessions include parking maneuvers, city driving, and highway driving, all meeting Georgia DDS standards.

• Attendance Requirements:

  • Must be 15–17 years old.
  • Possess a valid Georgia Learner’s Permit by the first day of class.
  • Attend all classroom sessions and complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving.

Scholarship Opportunity

Southern Crescent Technical College is an authorized provider of the Georgia Driver’s Education Grant Scholarship Program, administered by the Georgia Driver’s Education Commission (GDEC).

Steps to Apply for the Scholarship:

1. Visit the GDEC website and Apply for the Scholarship.
2. Create an account using the same email as your username.
3. Log in and select Apply Now.
4. Once you have received your Grant award notification.
5. Return to this Enrollment page, select Apply Now.
6. Complete and submit application with all required documents complete, signed and uploaded.
7. Once your application has been submitted it must be approved by staff BEFORE you can continue to Step 4. (Please allow 24 - 48 Business hours for applications to be processed. ) (You will receive a "Application Approved" email confirmation)
8. Return to this Enrollment page to Choose your desired class schedule and location, then Add to Cart and complete payment.( You will receive a Receipt and Enrollment Confirmation email.)

Scholarship approval is required before reserving a class spot.

Enrollment Without Scholarship

To enroll directly:

1. Visit our enrollment page and select Apply Now.
2. Complete and submit application with all required documents complete, signed and uploaded.
3. Once your application has been submitted it must be approved by staff BEFORE you can continue to Step 4. (Please allow 24 - 48 Business hours for applications to be processed. )
4. Return to the Enrollment page to Choose your desired class schedule and location, then Add to Cart and complete payment.( You will receive a Receipt and Enrollment Confirmation email.)
